About
Sustainable Health by Ellen

Health and wellness have been an interest and passion of mine for many years. I thought I had a pretty balanced lifestyle, but in retrospect, I was struggling with a diet/weight focused lifestyle. During my third pregnancy, I was introduced to the concept of Intuitive Eating while reading a blog by a registered dietician. She had posted some recent eats, which included ice cream and a bagel sandwich, along with fresh fruits and vegetables, among other foods. I was so surprised that she would call herself a dietician while eating foods with sugar, gluten, and dairy in them. However, the more I read her blog (and others like it) and saw the balance and satisfaction in her eating habits, developed through embracing the concepts of intuitive eating, I knew I wanted that freedom in my relationship with food.

Since that time, several years ago, I have developed my intuitive eating skills and have come to place where food has an emotionally neutral position in my life. The personal changes I’ve experienced by embracing the concepts of intuitive eating are what motivated me to becoming a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor (CIEC). As a wife and mom to five kids, I need to support my body so it can function as best as it’s able, but I also need to live a sustainable lifestyle, especially in regards to my physical well-being, to help my family live with a long-term and practical approach to health. Living out the concepts of intuitive eating is one way I can do this. I would also be remiss to add that I believe we were created by God the Father, and His design of our bodies is so intricate and beautiful, and I believe the concepts of intuitive eating can work with His design.

My primary focus is to work with clients to learn the concepts of intuitive eating and to incorporate those concepts into every day living. This is not a diet or fad approach to food. I am especially passionate about working with mothers to help them overcome societal expectations to “get their body back” after having a baby, and to help those mothers find peace in their postpartum body. I believe sustainability can be applied to other aspects of health, including mental, emotional, and physical health. I am open to incorporating a Christian/Catholic perspective of our bodies into our work if it is requested. I am certified by the Original Intuitive Eating Pros and hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree. I also have work experience as a Registered Nurse.

I would love to work with you to help you find satisfacation and balance in your eating habits, so that you can find freedom in eating.
